Spain has so many cool places to visit and discover. We have only done Barcelona and the surrounding. We expect to visit the south and the north very soon.
A few years back, we stumbled upon a resort town in the North-East of the country, Lloret de Mar. At first, it was a quiet and nice family destination. We soon learned that it has several layers that attract younger people too. Some party hubs with its wide and long beaches make the town attractive for all.
In 2018, before Covid-19, before the Ukraine war, before Chat GPT, when life was a bit simpler, L and I hopped on a train with our 2 daughters (16 and 18) from Paris and headed south. The ride was long, but comfortable – and less greenhouse emissions. We arrived to Barcelona and stayed for a few days, but that’s for another blog post in the future, maybe! We then headed to our rental apartment when we received a cancellation notice from booking.com, that assisted us in finding alternatives. We ended up in a nice apartment in the Fenals Beach neighbourhood, in Lloret de Mar.

The first action on the agenda was to run to the beach. The teens were not thrilled as it was quite family friendly and they were hoping for something … umm, more active. But L and I were happy as we had some work to do and wifi was available everywhere!
A few days in, the girls discovered another part of town, the center and the old district that had clubs, pubs, and thousands of young bodies being loud and active. The trip only got better from there and we soon learned that this small resort town is one of the most active communes of Costa Brava.

We slowly fell in love with Lloret de Mar. We returned a few times after that, once with the 2 boys and once only as a couple on a roadtrip from Italy to Barcelona. Lloret de Mar never failed to make us feel at home, restful and adventurous.
Things to do in LLoret de Mar:
– take a hike at the Jardins Santa Clotilde
– visit the Casc Antic district and have large cocktails
– check out the Sant Roma church
– visit the castle Sant Joan
– rent a bike and tour the city
– do the Go carting
– visit the Gnomo Park
– enjoy the beach – day and night
– have coffee while you work at the many cafés and bakeries
